Do I need to do anything prior to attending this workshop?

Yes, prior to attending one of these workshops you should:

1) Review the courses and GPA required to qualify for your major.

We have created charts outlining the major qualification requirements for all BSOE majors.

2) Create a plan through graduation.  The following steps will assist you with this process.

a) Print your major's curriculum chart from our Undergraduate Advising website.

b) Cross off all courses completed on the curriculum chart to help you keep track of course progress.  It's recommended to try and schedule no more than two major classes per quarter.

c) Refer to the SOE course schedule for information about course scheduling and prerequisites.  Click on a course to read the course description and prerequisites.  You will be planning your schedule at UCSC based on this year's class schedule.  Please check each year's class schedule as they become available to ensure your courses will still be offered as planned.

d) Refer to the Physical and Biological Sciences (aka PBSCI) Enrollment website for information about course scheduling and prerequisites for all Physical and Biological Sciences courses.  These include biology, chemistry, math, physics, etc.

e) Sample plans for your major can be found in the following locations:

        • General Catalog.  Click on Programs and Courses, then at top of Programs and Courses, click on Links to Programs by Department.  Please keep in mind that these are templates.  You may need to modify these plans for your circumstances.  If you are following a catalog year other than 2017-18, please refer to that year’s catalog as sample plans may be different based on that year’s requirements.
        • Other major plans will be added as they become available.

f) Once you are done creating your plan enter your proposed academic plan into "My Planner" in your MyUCSC portal.  For assistance, please refer to our Course Planner Tutorial.

We will be reviewing your plan with you at the workshop, so make sure to bring it!
