  • Register to Walk in the SOE Commencement Ceremony!

    This year's ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 4:00 PM at the Baskin Engineering Courtyard (between the Engineering 2 and Jack Baskin Buildings).

Internship, Research, Scholarship & Employment Opportunities

  • Network Management and Operations (NMO) Lab Internships

    HOW TO APPLY:Required Materials

    There are five application criteria that must be submitted to the manager in order to apply for any NMO Lab internship.  

    1. A resume. Please indicate your expected graduation date on your resume and notify the manager if your graduation date changes.  

    2. A copy of your unofficial transcript.  

    3. A letter of recommendation from a School of Engineering faculty member.  

    4. A second letter of recommendation from a different School of Engineering faculty member.  

    5. A faculty sponsor who is a UC Santa Cruz faculty member from the School of Engineering.  Sponsors may also be recommenders.  

    6. Enroll in an independent study course and notify your faculty sponsor of your involvement in the independent study program.

    Application Process

    Once the required application materials are completed, contact the NMO Lab manager to schedule a time to submit your application.  The review procedures for each applcation are:   

    * The NMO Lab's manager and director will review your application and submit it to Cisco, where Cisco managers will match applicants to available internships.   

    * A Cisco representative will contact you for telephone interviews.  Conduct all conversations with Cisco in a professional manner. 

    Remember that the application process can be lengthy and you may not be contacted immediately.   

    * The NMO Lab's manager and director work collaboratively with Cisco managers to place students in internships. 

    The NMO Lab manager will inform you if you have been accepted into an NMO Lab internship.  Once accepted, you will need to schedule an appointment with the NMO Lab manager to fill out additional paperwork.

    Please keep in mind that the length of the applicantion process can be extensive and is specific to each available position.

    Once the application materials are submitted, they are kept on file for the duration of your time at UC Santa Cruz.  Whenever an internship becomes available, the NMO Lab manager will contact all students whose resumes are on file before resubmitting their application materials.
