  • Did you know that UC Santa Cruz is the only university to have a game that's a finalist in the 2012 Independent Games Festival?

Did you know that UC Santa Cruz is the only university to have a game that's a finalist in the 2012 Independent Games Festival?

The game is Prom Week (http://promweekgame.com) which creates a different dramatic story each time you play. Friendship and backstabbing, romance and cruelty -- Prom Week lets you actually play the things other games only do in cutscenes. It's a game that could only have been created at a school with the interdisciplinary strength of UCSC.

The lead developers are current students or alumni in Computer Science, Digital Arts and New Media, and Theater Arts. The two faculty are affiliated with CS and DANM -- and 11 graduate and 13 undergraduate students contributed their knowledge of game design, computer science, music, creative writing, animation, and a host of other areas.

You can help Santa Cruz's innovative game go over the top by voting for Prom Week in the Independent Game Festival's Audience Choice Awards. Voting is open now and ends Sunday, February 19th.

An "audience choice" preview build of the game is here:http://promweek.soe.ucsc.edu/audience-choice/

If you like it, please consider voting for it here:http://igf.com/audience.php
